I have to admit, I like buying my music at iTunes. But if I want to have a real rarity or the recording of a live concert, I sometimes search for it in the well-known video portal YouTube. Here you can download music or videos for personal use free of charge, to transfer them to your MP3 player or iPhone. If you want to do this manually, it requires quite some time and the application of different programs. It would be easier to install a program that takes over the search, download and conversion. As of recently the Abelssoft YouTube Song Downloader has been launched to the market. I tested the program so please read my review of the YouTube Song Downloader 2011.

Find, download and listen!
The program is free; however, you have to register with the manufacturer. After installation I see a clearly arranged window, where I can search without further ado for my songs or videos on YouTube. I had the “Rolling Stones” in mind for this test so I used their name as search term. An extensive list with songs of the famous band is instantly displayed. This list shows additional information about the songs as well as their length. Furthermore, the start image of the selected video is zoomed in upon mouseover. It goes without saying that you can reduce the search considerably by entering the desired favorite song. Having found your song or your video, you can hear or view it prior to download with one more click. Another window opens, where you can watch the video without annoying advertising or commercials. Now if you find the song or video you have been looking for, there are three options for download. With this program I can either download just the music for my MP3 player or just the video or I can download music and video. All started downloads are listed with progress bar in an overview under “Downloads”. In this menu item you could still adjust the track information or remove the song completely from the list. The download list is kept for further downloads and can be used as download protocol so to speak.

What else do I get? What needs to be mentioned in any case is the album search. The YouTube Song Downloader provides a list with all the respective songs when looking for an album. The freeware then provides a list with all available album songs on YouTube. Hence you could download complete albums for free. Provided of course you are satisfied with the offered quality. A very nice tool, I think.

For those who want more than music off the shelf but who also attach importance on getting an original video, I can recommend the free of charge YouTube Song Downloader. It provides free download of myriads of videos or just the respective music from the best known of all video portals, YouTube. The search is very convenient and even allows searching for whole albums. The program can be used for free without any restrictions and is very easy to operate.
